FAQs

Antigen-based tests detect specific proteins on the surface of the virus. They’re often called rapid tests, as they typically provide results in less than an hour. Rapid antigen testing is used for screening purposes only and should NOT be used for diagnosis of acute COVID-19 infection. Testing does not prevent someone from getting COVID-19.

Participants self-administer their COVID-19 test and enter the result in the COVIDdetect platform. The entire process takes an average of 20-30 minutes. Real time results can be available in as little as 15 minutes.

Rapid antigen screening can be thought of as an additional screening tool. Rapid antigen screening does not replace public health measures such as symptom screening, physical distancing, masking and hand hygiene.

It is the responsibility of individual do-it-yourself users to dispose of test kits in accordance with their local public health guidelines. In most cases, it is as simple as placing the test kit in an enclosed garbage bin.
