COVIDdetect by DriverCheck is committed to keeping confidential all personal information about you. Our ongoing commitment to protect the privacy and confidentiality of personal information is addressed here in our Store Privacy Policy. We want you to know, in plain terms, why we ask for your personal information, how we keep your personal information confidential, and how you can inquire about the personal information we hold about you.


Our Employees’ and Vendors’ Responsibilities


Each and every one of our employees and vendors are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all personal information to which they have access.
We keep our employees and vendors informed of our policies and procedures for protecting personal information and reinforce the importance of complying with them. Additionally, we provide privacy training to our employees as well as on-the-job handling of confidential information. All employees are required, as a condition of employment, to abide by these policies and procedures. Our vendors are also required to enter into agreements with us that bind them to confidentiality and applicable privacy laws.


What Is Personal Information


Personal Information is information that identifies you and relates specifically to you. It includes but is not limited to your name and address, phone number, email address and payment information where applicable.


Collecting Your Personal Information


We obtain personal information about you directly from you through our Store’s ordering and fulfilment web application or our Store’s mobile app. We collect personal information in the form of your first and last name, email address, phone number, mailing address and payment information such as credit card and debit card numbers, for the purposes of fulfilling your order as well as payment and shipping of products listed in our Store. Payment information is only collected where you will be paying for the order yourself. In some circumstances your employer may pay for the order and therefore you will not be required to provide us with your payment information.
Our Store’s web application and mobile app also collects your information to measure the number of visits, average time spent on the web application or mobile app, product selection, order amount, delivery status etc. COVIDdetect uses this information to monitor the use of our Store’s web application and mobile app to improve its content and usefulness as well as to help fulfill your order of products.
In some instances, "cookies" may be used on our Store’s web application. A "cookie" is an element of data that a website can send to your browser, which is stored on your hard drive. We also use JavaScript to track visitor activity on the website. You can disable “cookies” and JavaScript through your browser settings; however you may find that you cannot perform specific activities on our Store’s web application if you disable these features.


Using Your Personal Information


We use the personal information we collect about you to provide you with products you’ve ordered form our Store. This includes your name, address and payment information where applicable for the placement and fulfilment of your order.
We will also use your personal information, such as your email and phone number, to communicate with you for the purposes of updating you on confirmation of your order, ordering status and delivery confirmation.


Disclosing Your Personal Information


In addition to COVIDdetect collecting and using your personal information, we disclose your personal information to Shopify who’s platform our web application and mobile app are based, as well as our third party logistics partner Expeditors Canada Inc. and our third party payment processor, Stripe, for the purposes of fulfilling your order placed at our Store as well as shipping products to you and accepting payments where applicable.
Aside from the disclosures described above, we have a strict policy of not releasing personal information about you. However, there may be instances in which we have a legal obligation, such as a subpoena or court order.
*Please note our Store operates on the Shopify platform, as such information submitted to our Store will be transmitted to and shared with third parties that may be located in other countries, in order to provide services to such users, including transaction processing and fraud prevention. *Any payment information processed by our third party payment processor Stripe is governed by Stripe’s privacy policy at https://stripe.com/en-ca/privacy


Accessing Your Personal Information


If you want to review or verify your personal information or find out to whom we have disclosed it, you can ask our Privacy & Compliance Coordinator. At that time, we will need specific information from you to enable us to search for, and provide you with, the personal information we hold about you. We may also charge you a nominal fee to do this, however we will advise you of the fee in advance. Your request must be made in writing.
There are a few instances where we will not be able to provide the personal information we hold about you. Some of these instances include if it:

  1. contains references to other persons,
  2. is subject to solicitor-client, litigation or other privilege,
  3. contains our own proprietary information that is confidential to us,
  4. has already been destroyed due to legal requirements or because we no longer needed it for the purposes set out in this Policy,
  5. cannot be disclosed for legal reasons.

Keeping Your Personal Information Accurate


We are committed to maintaining the accuracy of your personal information for as long as it is being used for the purposes set out in this Policy, and you play an active role in keeping us up-to-date. Should you discover, upon review of your personal information, that amendments are required, please advise us. We will use our best efforts to advise others of any important amendments to your personal information that we may have released to them.
If we do not agree to make the amendments that you request, you may challenge our decision. We will make a record of this challenge and, if necessary, disclose the challenge to third parties that also possess the personal information.


Safeguarding and Keeping Your Personal Information Confidential


Your personal information is secure with COVIDdetect. We have comprehensive security controls and procedures to protect against unauthorized use, alteration, duplication, destruction, disclosure, loss or theft of, or unauthorized access to, your personal information.
Additionally, our Store is run on the Shopify platform and their teams work tirelessly to protect your information, and to ensure the security and integrity of the platform. You can find more information about Shopify’s security measures at https://www.shopify.com/security.


Your Choice


You can also withdraw your consent subject to legal or contractual restrictions to our use of your personal information, as long as:

  • You give us at least sixty (60) days written notice by completing the necessary form available.
  • There are no legal requirements for your consent.
